A narrowing of the spinal canal typically leads to increasing symptoms in the legs after walking a short distance or standing for extended periods. If conservative treatment measures do not achieve the desired results, microsurgical widening of the narrowed area can be performed.

For back pain caused by wear-related destruction of discs or small facet joints, fusion of two or more vertebrae may be necessary after strict indication assessment. This surgery should be performed if all conservative therapy measures have not achieved the desired results.

Herniated discs or wear-related narrowing of the spinal cord in the cervical spine area can cause not only neck pain but also unbearable symptoms in the arms.
