JOINT AND SPORTS ORTHOPEDICS PREVENTIVE
ORTHOPEDIC THERAPY

The conservative treatment of joint disorders and sports injuries, in particular, require
a thorough physical examination. Due to our many years of experience in diagnostics
and targeted therapy, we are able to offer you treatment to suit your individual needs.

INTRA-ARTICULAR INJECTION OF HYALuRONIC ACID

Osteoarthritis is the name given to the disease caused by the degeneration of the joints. The joints most frequently affected are the knee, hip, shoulder and ankle. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the fluid in the joints (synovial fluid) and acts as a lubricant.
The injection of hyaluronic acid (3 - 5 applications) improves the mobility of the joints and relieves the discomfort caused by osteoarthritis.

PRP PRODUCED BY OWN BODY SUPPORTS THE HEALING PROCESS

PRP is a special process, in which highly concentrated blood platelets are extracted from the patient’s own blood. These concentrated blood platelets are called `platelet rich plasma’ (PRP). Blood platelets contain a multitude of growth factors which stimulate the cell division and improve the blood circulation. The healing process can be accelerated by the precise injection of the body’s own materials. PRP is particularly suitable for the treatment of ligament, tendon and muscle injuries, tendonitis as well as the treatment of osteoarthritis.

FOCUSED EXTRACOREAL SHOCK-WAVE THERAPY

By generating shock waves from outside the body (extracorporeal), and focusing them onto a particular part of the body, for example, a "calcified" shoulder, the calcifications can be dissolved and the pain relieved. Through the focused shock wave therapy pathological changes can be treated even more effectively. Other applications include the tennis or golfer's elbow, heel spur, chronic open wounds and impaired healing of fractures (broken bones).

BONE DENSITOMETRY

Bone densitometry can be used to measure the density of calcium and other minerals in the bones. A reduction in the mineral density of the bones is called osteoporosis. With individual treatment the bone density can be increased, thereby reducing the risk of fractures.

CHIROTHERAPy

Chirotherapy is a manual (manipulative) therapy which restores the mobility of the joints. This leads to relief of the pain caused by blockages in the spine and other joints.

AKUPUNKTUR

Acupuncture is a component of the traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is used to treat blockages in the energy pathways of the body (meridians). According to traditional Chinese medicine these energy pathways influence the functions of the body. As a symptom, such as knee pain, corresponds to a particular pathway, the insertion of a needle to this pathway will cause the flow of energy to be restored and the pain relieved.
